Pastoral Assistant David Sigrist
David Sigrist is our pastoral assistant who is providing teaching, preaching, technology, and ESL support here in Vancouver.
He is a PhD Candidate in Linguistics through Stellenbosch University. He holds a research post at Trinity Western University where he is a Doctoral Research Fellow, working on various international academic projects related to the Dead Sea Scrolls and the ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, commonly called the Septuagint. David holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Trinity Western University, a Master of Sacred Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Martin Luther College. David is a polygot who can speak and read more than 10 languages (talk to him and ask him which ones!).
David has spent several years directing and teaching ESL for mostly Spanish ministries in Mexico and the United States. And in British Columbia he is a certified ESL/EFL/TESL instructor with a gift for helping people become comfortable practicing and using their English.
David and his wife, Katie, moved to Canada in 2012 and are now proud, permanent residents. In December 2013 they welcomed their first child, Hezekiah (Hezi) James Sigrist. In September 2016 they welcomed their second child, Hadassah (Haddie) Noel Sigrist, who sadly passed away the next day due to a rare genetic condition. And in September 2017 they are expecting another son.
David enjoys the fine art of coffee making, and meeting new people around the city.
