New Sermon Series | Here I Stand
A new sermon series, Here I Stand, starts Sunday, June 18 at 3pm. This year marks the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, so we will look at questions that are just as relevant today as they were 500 years ago, such as: Why do we need to attend regular worship services? How do we know when we’re listening to a false teacher? and how can we share Jesus with others? Over the next four Sundays, we’ll explore the following topics:
Jesus says we need to look out for false teachers. How to do this? Being built upon a solid foundation, namely his Word. Let us recommit to building on the foundation of by scripture alone!
Paul reminds us that the Christian church is a hospital for sinners, of those whom God has shown mercy. He calls himself the worst of sinners, so that if Paul is welcome so are we. We come recognizing we are saved by grace alone!
Jesus asks to send out workers into his harvest vineyard. He sends them out proclaiming the message of the Kingdom of Heaven. But whether we are proclaiming or listening, nothing happens apart from faith. We pray to serve, believe and follow him by faith alone!
Jesus reminds us that we are not above him, he is our master, we are only his servants. He calls on us to confess him and to proclaim his Word alone. Thus, our Christian ministry, faith and life is built on Christ alone!
